Associate Cost Consultant
RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT ARE TO:
- Collaborate with Directors to ensure that the clients’ needs and project deadlines are being met
- Take a more active role in mentoring and reviewing work of Junior members
- Certify that reports and work prepared by the Associate are exemplar and free of errors
- Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates and products
- Attend relevant networking events and other promotional opportunities
- Demonstrate a full technical understanding of construction estimating
- Prepare, co-ordinate & deliver estimates (on schedule & within fees)
- Work with Management to support the implementation of existing and new business strategies (i.e. when a new reporting format is introduced, Associate will do their best to become an expert and act as a resource for other junior team members/actively offering guidance)
- Maximize the use of appropriate software and technology and teach others how to do the same such as WinEst, PDF Xchange Editor, and Microsoft Office
SPECIFICALLY, WE’RE LOOKING FOR A LEADER WITH A STRONG BACKGROUND WHO CAN:
- Identify, analyze, and quantify risks on projects
- Collaborate with leadership and positively impact the team and overall organization
- Utilize previous experience to support ConEcon’s current and future achievements goals
- Implement and continuously improve processes
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES BEHAVIOURS, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- RICS, MRICS, CEC, PQS, Quantity Surveyor designation, and/or equivalent experience education
- Minimum 5 years of loan monitoring and/or commensurate experience
- Minimum 5 years of lender services, and supporting junior professionals
- Previous accomplishments in managing projects people and teams
- In depth knowledge of construction industry and methodology
- Excellent budgeting and cost control abilities
- Effective problem solving, analytical and decision-making abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and strong ability to work under pressure
- Excellent verbal, written, and technical communication skills
- Flexible team partner who exercises strong positive judgement
- A valid BC Driver’s License and vehicle is mandatory

Cost Consultant
THE CANDIDATE WILL PRIMARILY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Support the Company’s Project Loan Monitoring Program
- Support the Company’s Cost Consulting Program
- Support the Consultant Professional Quantity Surveying services
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with measurement of areas and help prepare project statistics sheets
- Conduct construction site inspections, record notes and take photos of work in progress
- Assist and prepare site inspection reports
- Assist and review and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Assist and review client’s construction budget in terms with the scope of work
- Assist and review soft cost budgets in terms with supporting documentation
- Assist and review timeline for project approvals and construction schedule
- Assist and prepare budget review reports
- Assist and review clients and contractor’s progress claims and reports
- Assist and prepare progress claim reports
- Assist with loan advance recommendations with Lender’s instructions loan agreement
- Assist and support Senior Project Monitor in all work activities
- Additional and other duties as assigned
WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN EMERGING LEADER WITH A WINNING ATTITUDE AND STRONG BACKGROUND WHO CAN:
- Identify, analyze, and quantify risks on projects
- Collaborate with leadership and positively impact the team and overall organization
- Utilize previous experience to support ConEcon’s current and future achievements goals
- Implement and continuously improve processes
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES BEHAVIOURS, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- Recent graduate or in final year in an Architectural, Building & Engineering Technology or Construction Estimating program
- Pursuit for PEng, CEC, PQS, Quantity Surveyor designation, and/or equivalent education
- Current member or willing to become a member of Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) and provincial affiliate, CIQS-BC.
- Preferred experience with a general contractor or Quantity Surveying firm
- Preferred knowledge of construction industry and methodology
- Preferred knowledge in budgeting and cost control abilities
- Effective problem solving, analytical and decision-making abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and strong ability to work under pressure
- Excellent verbal, written, and technical communication skills
- Flexible team partner who exercises strong positive judgement
- Driven, ambitious, must have willingness and a desire to build an exciting and rewarding career with like-minded self-starters
- A valid BC Driver’s License and vehicle is mandatory (or sufficient evidence of acquisition of both in the near future – maximum three (3) months)
